meet jianna!

Jianna Cousin is a published digital photographer, born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and currently based in New York City.

Jianna’s interest in photography sparked in her freshman year of high school. Throughout art classes, her skillset expanded through darkroom film development, digital portraiture, and set design. Inspired by her fellow Kansan, Gordon Parks, Jianna began to take a camera with her everywhere and sought to document her friends, family and community.

In 2018, Jianna left Wichita, going on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media from Clark Atlanta University -- graduating in 2022.

In addition to photography, Jianna has a deep passion for social justice and public service. These interests intersect across her work. She has been able to use art to shine a light on various communities, earning her various recognitions -- including an exhibition display within the Kansas African American Museum.

Over the years, Jianna’s art has been highlighted through speaking opportunities, digital features and award recognitions. In the long run, Jianna hopes to continue community work and establish well-run, affordable photo studios on the north side of her hometown.

Jianna prides herself in making every client and subject feel safe in front of her lens. Although photography isn’t something she does full-time, her self-discipline and love for art are applied in various areas of her life.
